What investors actually ask for

Investor questions are repetitive and specific, which is good news, because a portal that answers them removes most of the inbound.

The questions do not change with the size of the investor. A family office and a pension fund ask the same five things, they just ask in different formats and with different deadlines.

• What did I commit, and how much is still unfunded.
• What have you called, and when.
• What have you distributed, and how was it split.
• What is my position worth now, and as at what date.
• Where is the latest report and the last notice you sent me.

A document folder is not a portal

If the numbers in the portal are produced by uploading a PDF, the portal is a filing cabinet and the numbers are already out of date the moment something is restated.

The distinction that matters is whether the portal reads from the fund record. When it does, a distribution paid on Tuesday is visible on Tuesday, and a corrected valuation shows as a correction rather than as a silently different number.
