Decision infrastructure for model portfolio and managed account platforms
Model portfolio and managed account platforms are built around instruments that price daily and rebalance cleanly. Private markets break both assumptions: commitments, drawdowns, valuations at intervals and no rebalancing. Reuben AI supplies the private markets decision and operations layer that sits alongside the existing model engine, behind the platform brand.
A managed account platform is optimised for instruments with daily prices, clean identifiers and predictable settlement. Everything from the model construction tooling to the reporting cadence assumes those properties. Private markets have none of them, which is why a private allocation usually appears in a client report as a single manual line item, if it appears at all.
That gap has consequences beyond reporting. The platform cannot show a defensible view of the private portion at all: what was committed, what has been drawn, what remains unfunded, what the current valuation basis is, and what the reasoning was for each position. Advisers work around it, and the workaround is where the platform loses both the workflow and the record.
An embedded private markets layer models the things the existing engine cannot: commitments and unfunded balances, capital calls and distributions, valuation basis and date, and the mandate each account is run against. Screening of new opportunities is assessed against that mandate, evidence carries its sources, and reporting is generated from the same records so the private lines reconcile to the rest of the statement.
Reuben AI is software. It does not hold client money, settle transactions or act as a licensed administrator, custodian or adviser. Model construction and any regulated advice remain with the platform and its licensed users.
What you already own
- Model construction, rebalancing and listed allocation
- The adviser relationship and the client reporting surface
- Custody and administration relationships
- Fee, billing and account operations
What is missing today
- Commitment, unfunded and drawdown mechanics the model engine does not represent
- Valuation basis and date carried alongside a position
- Mandate-aware assessment of private opportunities before allocation
- Private lines that reconcile to the rest of the client statement
How the layer applies
Research and decisioning
Assess private opportunities against the mandate each account is actually run against.
Diligence and evidence
Produce evidence packs an adviser can place in a client file with sources attached.
Transaction and onboarding workflow
Commitments, calls, distributions and transfers modelled properly rather than as journal lines.
Portfolio and reporting operations
Private positions with valuation basis and date, feeding the same statement as the listed book.
Integration surface
- API alongside the existing model and reporting engine
- Embedded components for the private portion of an account view
- Webhooks on commitment, call and distribution events
- SSO against the existing adviser identity

Questions from this archetype
Does this replace our model engine?
No. It sits alongside it and covers the instruments the model engine was not built for. Your engine stays authoritative for what it already handles.
How are valuations handled?
A position carries its valuation basis and the date it applies to, so reporting states what the number is and where it came from rather than implying a daily price.
Can we keep our own client reporting format?
Yes. Either embed the private components into your existing report, or call the API and render the output in your own templates.
