Reuben AI

How to use AI responsibly in a finance internship

    TL;DR

Two rules cover most of it: never paste confidential data into a public chat AI, and always tell your team when AI helped produce work. Everything else follows from those two.

Three layers of AI in finance. Generic AI is great for drafting. Reuben AI is the layer that plugs into firm systems with a provenance trail.

    The rules that actually apply

Confidentiality. Pitch decks, data rooms, model outputs and LP information are usually confidential. A public chat AI is not a safe place to paste those. Use only tools your firm has explicitly approved.

Disclosure. If AI drafted a paragraph, produced a chart or summarised a document you cite, say so. Every good firm now expects this and it protects you.

Verification. AI can produce something that reads well but is wrong. Every number, name and citation gets checked before it leaves your desk.

What this looks like in practice

Use approved tools for anything touching real deal data. Use a public AI only for openly available information (regulator registers, published industry research) and general drafting. Keep a short note in your workpapers of where AI helped and how you verified it.

How this shows up on the job

Every serious firm now has an AI policy. The interns who read it, ask when unsure, and disclose their use become trusted quickly. The ones who paste confidential material into a chat AI get fired.

    How Reuben AI helps

Reuben AI is built for governed use. Every AI output carries a provenance trail: the data behind it, the reasoning, the reviewer. You can share your work with a supervisor and they can see exactly what the AI did and did not do.

    Frequently asked questions

Can I use ChatGPT during my internship?

Only for public information and general drafting, and only if firm policy allows. Never for confidential deal information.

Do I need to disclose AI use if it only helped with grammar?

Yes. It is easier to over-disclose than to explain later.

What if my firm has no AI policy?

Ask before you use it. That question alone signals judgment.

Is Reuben AI safe to use in an internship?

It is designed for the workflow, with data isolation and a provenance trail. Ask your firm before using it on live deals.

What happens if AI hallucinates a number in my memo?

You own it. Verification is the analyst's job whether the number came from a person or a model.
